Abstract:
Aluminum is a silvery white metal that is weak and soft, but when combined with a number of other such metallic elements (Mg, Cu, Si) can increase the strength of aluminum. Because the aluminum alloy weldability properties have relatively low when done handling TIG welding for aluminum alloy so they will obtain good welding results. This is a study made by adding magnesium into aluminum undertaken in accordance variation is 2%, 4% and 6% when the element magnesium casting. After tensile testing was carried out and the micro picture. This research aims to study the tensile strength of the TIG welded joints in aluminum alloys. The test results showed that the optimum tensile strength is the composition of 94% aluminum and 6% magnesium with the following characteristics: 199 N/mm2, 4.2% elongation. Black on microstructure results indicating Magnesium and aluminum is a silvery white color. Increasing addition of magnesium to aluminum elements, then its power is also increasin.

Aluminium
merupakan logam putih keperakan yang lemah dan lunak, tetapi bila
dipadukan dengan sejumlah unsur logam lain seperti ( Mg, Cu, Si) dapat
meningkatkan kekuatan dari aluminium. Karena paduan aluminium mempunyai
sifat mampu las yang relatif rendah bila dilkukan penanganan las TIG
terhadap aluminium paduan sehingga nantinya akan diperoleh hasil
pengelasan yang baik. Penelitian yang dibuat ini adalah dengan
menambahkan magnesium kedalam aluminium sesuai variasi yang dikerjakan
yaitu 2%, 4% dan 6% unsur magnesium saat pengecoran. Setalah itu
dilakukan pengujian tarik dan foto mikro. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk
mempelajari kekuatan tarik pada sambungan las TIG pada aluminium
paduan. Hasil pengujian menunjukkan bahwa kekuatan tarik yang optimum
adalah pada komposisi 94 % aluminium dan 6 % magnesium dengan
karakteristik sebagai berikut: 199 N/mm2, elongasi 4.2 %. Pada hasil
mikrostruktur berwarna hitam yang menunjukkan Magnesium dan warna putih
keperakan merupakan aluminium. Semakin meningkat penambahan unsur
magnesium terhadap aluminium, maka semakin meningkat juga kekuatan
tariknya.*()
